NEWADA duo launched!

Following three years of outstanding project work in the framework of NEWADA (Network of Danube Waterway Administrations), the project is now proceeding to the next phase. The international project NEWADA duo is yet another milestone in the process of enhancing the cooperation between the waterway authorities in the Danube region.
NEWADA duo (Network of Danube Waterway Administrations - data and user-oriented) was kicked-off on 17 and 18 October in Visegràd (Hungary). Project Manager Barbara Kèri welcomed the attendees and presented the work packages, the activities and the project structure. This introduction was followed by a presentation of work packages 1 - project management and 2 - communication activities, both crucial work packages, highlighting planned activities and expected results of NEWADA duo.
On day two of the kick-off meeting, during a round-table discussion moderated by via donau project manager Markus Simoner, the Heads of the waterway maintenance organizations EAEMDR (Bulgaria), Plovput (Republic of Serbia), RSOE (Hungary) and via donau (Austria) exchanged the experiences they have made so far and new plans and ideas for NEWADA duo as well as their role in the new project.
The next 5 work packages were also on the agenda: Thomas Hartl (via donau) presented integrated waterway management, Ivan Mitrovic (PLOVPUT) brought some light on "Increase visibility and awareness" and Claudiu Dutu (ADFDJ) spoke about the planned activities and expected results of NEWADA duo. Finally, Stefan Polhorsky (SVP) spoke about improved customer orientation and Gergely Mezö (RSOE) explained user services based on ICT. Following each presentation of the work packages, the participants were invited to ask questions and find out more about the new opportunities offered by NEWADA duo.
